Prusa Mini Print Surface Shootout: Match 1

Match 1: Prusa Textured vs. TriangleLabs Textured

Based on history, I would expect Prusa to wipe the mat with this Chinese cloned bum,  The Prusa Textured is well-loved by the owner of Prusa printers.  It started out on the MK3S and I fell in love instantly.  It is easy to get the first layer and eat to remove when cool.  That being said, not everyone is as impressed with this surface.,  Some folks just have trouble getting a first layer.  Well, it is time to rumble so lets start the prints.

400 PEG Test Prusa TXT

The image above is the bottom right hand corner where the Prusa TXT had 4 pegs knocked down.

The Prusa sheet seems heavier duty but weighs less at 149 grams.  It is stiffer and the texture is rougher.  It is a dark brown color. The Z Offset was -1.250.

The tests:

  • Peg Torture Test:
    • 10×10 3mmx3mmx5mm – 100 of 100 stayed on the sheet = 100 points
    • 20×20 3mmx3mmx3mm – 396 of 400 stayed on the sheet = 99 points
  • 60×60 cube:
    • Perfect First Layer

400 peg test Triangle labs

The winner is.......

This one is essentially a tie.  It was really close.  There will be some hurt feelings with the Prusa TXT exiting so soon.  I have to admit I was surprised.  Ease of dial-in is easier on the Triangle Labs TXT so I am going to give it the nod.  It took me atleast 6 ties to get the 400 peg test to stick or the Prusa.  To be honest, both are great sheets and you will not go wrong with either.  With shipping, the Prusa is going to set you back $41.  So even the value of the Triangle Labs is superior ($28.40 with a score of 0.86 or of 1).

Match 1 - Triangle labs

The Bottom line: You will be happy with either of these.  They are good print surfaces for PLA.
