Match 2: BCAMD TXT Gold vs Ultrastik TXT

Based on my own experiences, I would expect Ultrastik to be superior.  I have three of these for my MK3S printers and I absolutely love them.  They stick very well and the prints are easy to remove.  They also create a fantastic textured first layer.  The Ultrastik is a product of FilamentOne   The BXZAMD is a Chinese product that primarily sold via Amazon.  I am not familiar with the company but bought one to test and review.   printers.  I am open to testing them without bias so here we go.

BCZAMD - 25 Square Test

The image above is the 25 Squares test on the BCZAMD.  Both sheets handled this well.

The BCZAMD sheet weighs 149 grams and feels stiffer than the Ultrastik.  It is stiffer and the texture is rougher.  It is a dark bronze color. The Z Offset was -1.065. It does have some rough edges that might cut fingers.

The tests:

  • Peg Torture Test:
    • 10×10 3mmx3mmx5mm – 100 of 100 stayed on the sheet = 10.0 points
    • 20×20 3mmx3mmx3mm – 388 of 400 stayed on the sheet = 9.9 points
  • 60×60 cube:
    • Perfect First Layer
  • Stars, Circles, and squares in all 4 corners
    • swing and a miss.  Slight imperfection on all 4 corners.
  • PARAMETRIC FIRST Layer test
    • No imperfections

Ultrastik-25 Square test

The image above is the 25 Squares test on the BCZAMD.  Both sheets handled this well.

The Ultrastik Textured sheet is more flexible and less rough on the surface than the BCZAMD.  It is light bronze in color.  The Z Offset was -1.100.

  • Dial-in Ease: 10 points

The winner is.......

There is a clear winner in this one.  It was close, but the Ultistick has superior adhesion and released better after cooling.  I also found the finer texture to be superior for looks.  Ease of dial-in is easier on the Ultistick but it was nominal.  The BCZAMD was cheaper but I found the prints harder to remove after cooling.  You really could not go wrong with either of these sheets.  I would say that both are superior to Prusa’s TXT sheet and Triangle Labs.  I found that FilamentOne makes an Ultistik for the MK3s.  I just order them for it also.

Ultrastik Textured for the Mini

The Bottom line: You will be happy with either of these as long as you can live with the rough edges on the BCZAMD.  They are good print surfaces for PLA.
